When my son was young our neighbor would take the boys and his yellow labrador (Ben) out to Laguna Creek to a place they named Ben's Pond. It was his favorite place to go and play in the water. The creek has changed much over the years and now is a perserved wetland area. But you can still see Ben's Pond when the water is still high.

To locate Ben's Pond letterbox take Highway 99 south from Sacramento. Exit the freeway at west onto Laguna Blvd(Elk Grove). Go about a half mile and turn right onto Big Horn Blvd. Go past Henry's and the doctors houses. Turn right into Zimbleman Park(9191 Big Horn Blvd). Park in the parking lot. If full you can always park at the doctors house next to it. Walk over to the gazebo and go straight until you reach the Laguna Creek Trail. Remember to not go over the speed limit. At the trail turn left and walk 32 steps. Turn right 5 steps and look out to see Ben's Pond. In the summer it may dry up so spring time is best. Turn left 4 steps. Between the small oak tree on the right and the bush on the left is a water meter box. Next to the water box under the bush is a hole which you will find Ben's letterbox.
