We have a new baby,
But we still want boxes to do.
So we’re starting a series,
Of plants that are new.

Each of them will be doable,
With a stroller on the go.
I guess we should clarify,
Just so you will know.

The conveyance we use,
Is not of the umbrella style.
You must use something for trails,
Or these trips will take awhile.

They are not drive-bys,
So don’t get confused.
To help you along,
There is a scale that we used.

(1) are the most basic,
A paved trail you will find.
Then we get to (2),
If unpaved paths you don’t mind.

When we get into (3),
You might think us crazy.
As you will find,
To do these you can’t be lazy.

On this scale of ours,
You can count on bumps that they’ve got.
Or if they are ‘smooth’,
Then that means flat they are not.

At (4) we end our scale,
To note trails beyond three.
How can we describe them,
How difficult will they be?

An example, you say,
Just to give you some notion.
Well, if you have to pick up the baby,
It could be anything, even an ocean.

We hope you have fun,
And bring a baby along.
With the whole family out,
How can it go wrong?

____

That Sam I Am,
That Sam I Am,
He made me like,
Green Eggs and Ham.

But now Sam was mad, I had to say,
Since I’d eaten all his eggs that day.

Here comes our friend, our friend Mike,
Mike, you see, he likes to Hike.

He’s told me of a wood he knows,
A wood called Brookfield, so it goes.

He has a plan, a plan you see,
To hide the eggs, among the trees.

“I do not like to hike,” I say.
“GOOD!” says Mike, “perhaps they’ll stay.”

“Did you not hear, me shout and scream?
You are my friend, but you seem mean.”

“Perhaps you’d like some lox instead!”
Lox, indeed, I should box his head!

Off I am to find my grail,
It is hidden out along the trail.

This hike is level, easy as pie,
I hope that I will not want to die.

On the scale, we use to grade,
This is a ‘1,’ they aren’t easier made.

“Mike will you give me the clue?”
“Hmm,” he thought, “here’s what I’ll do…

..try and guess your way along,
and I will tell if you are wrong.”

Do I go down the trail?
Do I stop out near the rail?

“Yes you go down, down the trail.
Not at the rail or else you’ll fail.”

Do I follow the colors along?
Do I know if I’ve gone all wrong?

“Yes, you follow the colors along.
No, you shouldn’t go very wrong.
You need to go down the trail, you see.
The trail that follows through the trees.”

Do I follow the river as it bends?
Do I follow the curves, to the end?

“Yes, follow the river around the bends,
Follow it far, towards the ends.
Follow it far, that’s what I said!
Follow it far, the color red,
Follow it, the trail you see,
Are you listening at all to me!?”

How will I know, where is the spot?
Will you tell me, when I am hot?

“Yes, you will know the spot,
You will know you are getting hot!
Walk down the trail past the mile,
Walk a bit more, for awhile.
Pay attention for a small hill,
It might be small, but it will fit the bill.”

A small hill you boast,
then will it be time to toast?!

“Now that you’ve gotten all that far,
You’ll see a log, with a mar.
The mark doesn’t make much sense,
So go further than 1.5cm hence.
Turn left and go up the rise,
At the top, you’ll find your prize.”

SO that is all I have to do?
Nothing more, nothing new?

“Yes, there is more to do!
There are a few more pieces, new.
At the top to the right you see,
You’ll find a large, large looking tree.
The tree is twinned, and twinned once more,
So keep an eye out, for what’s in store.
Continue south and then veer right,
Along a dirt trail, a trails that’s tight.
Count your steps, along the trees,
At 42, you’ll have to see.”

Do I need to leave the path?
Will I need to take a bath?

“Yes, you will need to leave the path,
But you probably won’t need a bath.
Unless you go the wrong way here,
You’ll get wet, and sad, I fear.
So when you stop, look for a tree,
To the east you’ll see one with three.
Go to it, look under the sticks,
It’s off the ground, to keep the water, nix.
In the center, you’ll find the prize,
I’ve told you this, oops, perhaps unwise.
Sam, you see, he’ll be rude,
He wants his eggs, his ham, his food.”

Is there anything I can do for you?
To help you out, to pay my due?

“Yes, you can do this for Sam,
Don’t take the box, eggs, or ham.
Instead, just an impression make,
Leave a note, but do not take.
And just so that I won’t have lied,
Put it back, very well rehide.
