Your adventure begins where I-215 ends and Foothill Drive begins. If your driving east on I-80 get off on the Foothill drive exit.

Park in the Foothill Family CLinic parking lot or any of the other businesses on the east side of the street. But be carefull many of the parking spots are researved during business hours.

Start walking south along Foothill drive. You will come to a sign that says Bonneville Shore line trail at this point the concrete ends and the asphalt begins.

As you walk along the asphalt path you will pass the interchange between I-215 and I-80 on your right. All along you will see a magnificent view of Mount Olympus straight ahead. After awhile you will see a corragated pipe coming down the steep slope on your left. Keep going.

Keep going around the bend and you will come to a chain link fence on your right. A few feet ahead you will see two yellow arrows on the path. One pointing forward and the other pointing back. To the left you will see a dirt path branching off from the asphalt trail. You could take the trail here but at the very beginning it is obstructed by a large clump of dirt and boulders. If you don't want to hop over this obstruction. Walk a few step forward and you will see a steep little path leading up to the trail.

After a bit the dirt trail becomes asphalt again. But this is not a walking path. It is the remains of an old road. after a bit the road breaks up and the dirt takes over again. But, in a short distance the road comes back. Now I don't know that this is part of the original Lincoln Highway. But I like to imagine that it is. It is definately following the path of the original.

Eventually you will see a clearing on your left, with a small patch of trees. You are almost to the end. Walk slightly past the end of the clearing and you will see the most well preserved feature of the road a large white cross.

Stand right on top of the cross and turn around and look back at the road. Now look to your right and notice the steep bank. looking forward you mwill see that the bank come to an end in a point. Look past the point and you will see that the point is in line with your eyes and a white block shaped boulder. Head for the boulder and go around it. You will see a pile of asphalt and rock. Under this pile is a souvenir of the original Lincoln Highway.

After you return to your car. You can drive south on Foothill Drive just past the gas station on the west side of the road and exit on to the Parleys Way exit. This road continue on along the path of the Old Lincoln Highway.

Total walking distance a little over 2 miles.
