ADULT CLUES:
This letterbox is located in Harrisonburg Virginia. You are going to start out in an available parking lot behind the Elk’s Lodge located on Paul Street between Mason Street and South Main Street. Park in the upper part of the parking lot and that’s where your journey will begin. Start out facing the back of the lodge and look for a stone that reads “In memory of our deceased brothers.” Facing the quote turn to 9 o’clock and look for a second stone that recognizes the life of Frank S. Hayden. Go to the sidewalk that you crossed over and go down the set of stairs and turn left walking towards Paul Street. Notice all of the beautiful old houses that remain on the street. Cross Paul Street and turn right walking on the sidewalk towards South Main Street. When you reach South Main Street you are not going to cross that road, but you’re going to cross Paul Street again going with the flow of traffic walking in front of the Elk’s Lodge. Walk a block north from the front of the Elk’s Lodge and on your right you should come upon the Joshua Wilton House. The Joshua Wilton House is an elegant restaurant and inn that used to be the home of the Wilton family from England. The house was built by the family in the late 800’s. The home is now an elegant restaurant and inn owned by JMU. Keep walking down the sidewalk crossing Campbell Street. Here you will come across the United Church of Christ. St. Stephens United Church of Christ was built in 1894 and finished in 1897. Across the road from the church you should spot a large grey building. South Main Street is a one-way road, so cross the street with caution heading towards the building. Stand on the sidewalk leading to the building and to your right there should be a Virginia Civil War Trails Sign. Under the sign there is a plaque that contains some quick information about the Municipal Building. Walk inside and take a look at the place. It used to be a boarding school for girls and the old Harrisonburg High School. When finished exploring the building, exit it and walk to your right. Follow along the sidewalk that runs alongside of the building heading towards the DNR Building. You should pass the Turner Pavilion that is the local farmers market, open every Tuesday and Saturday. When you come to Liberty Street turn left and continue walking 3 blocks passing a church and coming to a statue of the back of a lady. Walk to the front heading up the stairs and follow the gravel path that leads around the statue. The statue symbolizes World War 1. Turn back towards the church and walk on the left sidewalk until you come a small set of steps leading to the back of the church. Walk up them and take the left path that ends at a bush. Count the bushes and check out the 4th bush. Here you should find the letterbox(:

KID'S CLUES:
The letterbox you are searching for happens to be in Harrisonburg, VA. You are able to park at Elk’s Lodge on Paul St. between Mason St. and South Main St. in the upper parking lot.
Fact: In the 1800’s there use to be a vineyard on the top of the hill on Paul St. there; two men were killed there. One hung the other moved there to die.
Fact: The unknown man that was hung owned the vineyard he was murdered at.( a vineyard is a place where wine was made.)
Fact: There are no longer vineyards in the city of Harrisonburg.
Your journey begins when you face the back of the building at the sidewalk. Walk down to the stairs, turn to your left; Walk until you get to the stone that reads “in Memory of Our Deceased Brothers”. When was this stone put there? (Look on the other side)
Facing the quote, turn to nine o’clock and take 25 steps-crossing the sidewalk. Do you see another stone? Try and figure out how old Frank S. Hayden was when he passed away.
**Remember that number.
After figuring out his age go back to the sidewalk you crossed; go down the stairs. At the bottom take a left and walk until you reach the road. Hold your parent’s/guardian’s hand and skip across the street to the sidewalk.
Now turn to your right, and walk 11 of those blocks.
Then skip 13 of them. Now as your skipping look to you’re right to see a big statue of an elk. (Did you know that elks are related to deer?)
Fact: This building known as Elk’s Lodge was donated in 1931 by S. W. Lauck.
Now after skipping, walk down the rest of the road to find twin brick columns.
Cross the road with caution (Hold your adult’s hand.)
Walk down the path between the columns and at the light pole turn to 9 o’clock and go to the playground.
Walk out of the white fence and look for 3 connected slides.
**Hint: They’re green(:
Stand in front of them to the left. At the top notice a sign language key on a tan wall. Try and spell out your name.
Turn to your right and follow the looped driveway passing the church until you come to the sidewalk again.
Turn left and go 21 sidewalk blocks until you come to a small stairwell.
Go up to it and go 3 ½ more sidewalk blocks.
Go to you’re left and walk onto the grass. Count to the 4th bush and check out what you see.
**The stamp symbolizes a hanging that happened in the 1800’s.
