Kids Clues

**Harrisonburg was legally established in May 1780**
Come to the corner at Shank’s Bakery on Water Street.
Hold hands with your parents and cross the street; follow the sidewalk between BEYOND and COVE.
Look down when you reach the bridge, do you see any ducks? **This creek is called Black’s Run and runs all the way through downtown Harrisonburg.**
Continue following the sidewalk until you get to the road, hold your parent’s hand and gallop across the road.
Start in the gazebo on West Market Street.
Go left and look for a sign with a big season on it.
Go forward and count every sidewalk block you step on, until you get to the squiggly bricks.
Hop up the stairs to the black fountain, what animal is on it?
Go towards the coffeehouse, and follow the red brick path around the courthouse.
Stop at the last light pole on the corner near a small set of steps. **The present county courthouse is the 5th structure to be erected on this site. The cornerstone for the courthouse was laid in 1896.** What numbers are on the corner of the courthouse?
Gallop to the V in the paths and stop.
Count the pillars at the front of the courthouse. What kind of columns are they?
From here on make sure to stay with your parents.
Hop up the stairs and enter the big blue door. It’s a lot darker inside than it is out. **Harrisonburg first used electric lights on December 22, 1890.**
Smile at the police officers and walk through the metal detectors.
Turn right and skip down the short hallway.
I spy a word that is spelled the same forward and backwards.
Go in the door.
Stand in front of the picture of the man with a big white beard.
Look for the blue door on the wall across from you.
Go in that door.
The letter box is on a shelf to your right, near the ground.
**The courthouse is the 26th judicial circuit of Virginia.**
