Welcome Spring with a delightful show around the historic downtown square in downtown Brenham. The festival has now been combined with the annual Maifest Celebration, but in the past, the Country Flavors Festival was an annual event held in May. It was an Ice Cream Celebration around the square with a 36-flavor smorgasbord, childrens activities, over 45 arts and craft vendors and a car show. One of the highlights was a Little Mr. and Miss Scoop pageant, in which my daughter won in 2009. This stamp is planted in honor of her. To find Lil’ Miss Scoop, drive into downtown Brenham, heading East on East Alamo Street(one way) and take a left onto Douglas Street (one way). Pass the Doll Shoppe on the left and make a left onto West Main. Immediately park on the right across from Simon Theater and the Visitor's Center. Next to the Visitor's Center is an alleyway that has park benches and a permanent stage where the contest use to be held. Beginning at the entrance of the alleyway, you will notice donor pavers or bricks on the sidewalk. Continue to the 8th cluster of donor bricks and look for former Mayor and County Judge Dorothy Morgan's brick. Once you find her brick, look to the left at a rock bed with 3 trees planted. You will notice a gray metal extra large breaker box attached to the wall. Lil' Miss Scoop microbox is hiding under the breaker box. Enjoy!
