UPDATE
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO FOUND OUR LETTERBOX
unfortunately we found a message in our logbook from a person saying the area was private property. We read the DEC signs carefully and it clearly states that ONLY fishing was aloud in the area. So we have removed our letterbox. We will be placing a new box soon. We will be looking up areas that will allow everyone to enjoy.
our first letterbox
Manwaring Rd connects to both Rte 3 and County Rte. 41 Just outside of Mexico, NY. Find Krebs Rd. and you're nearly there.
Don't miss the "Grindstone Creek public fishing stream" there's a brown sign at the parking lot. Now look for the footpath by the white "please do not litter" sign. Watch for prickly thorn bushes, they are everywhere. Follow the path all the way to the creek.It gets steep and sometimes muddy at the base, so watch your step. Now that you're looking over the creek on the first sandy bank, turn around and look up the bank. There are a group of fallen trees a short ways off the path. Our white letterbox is under the fallen trees, and concealed with leaves until you get the the sandy bank.
