Prelude: This box has a very important purpose for me. I’m in love! We cannot be together right now and I needed a way to express my feelings for her before I lose my mind. This box is dedicated to her. She is my Isabeau. She is the measure of a woman to me. Anyone seeking out this box can bring us together with the stamps inside (if you can you might want to bring multiple colors). I warn you now; it’s not the easiest box to find. Yet for those of you, who have ever been in love and understand the power that love possesses, will understand why I have to do this and your efforts will validate that my love is eternal.

Clues: Drive to Red Rock Canyon. You will have to pay to get in, yet as we all know, nothing in life is free. Drive to the Sand Stone Quarry and park. I believe it’s the third possible stop from the entrance however it is marked well and has a large parking lot.

Take the trailhead and follow the Calico Tanks trail. From the trailhead you will hike approximately 12 minutes in, give or take depending on your stride. You will pass two very sandy areas, then start looking to your left (North). Directly along the trail on your left, you will see multi-layered rock coming up from the ground. They are banded in red and cream. Looking to the north, there is a large rock formation that juts up and out (it looks like the remnants of a Trojan horse). Below that large rock is a pair of smaller rocks, which look like someone kicked their shoes off, the right one landing sole up. Now that you are facing the rock formation, turn around exactly opposite (South). You will see a white rock tumble with a lone pine tree to the left of the rocks. There is a bit of brush around yet the pine tree stands tallest. You will have to scale up to the area where the rocks have collapsed. The rocks have created a mini gorge. Keep the tree to your left yet behind you. A bit of climbing is necessary. Start looking in the rocks to your right. The box is in a cavity made by the fallen rocks. I know, I know, the whole canyon is that way but I need your help! A cedar limb and two small red rocks block the entrance to where we are. When you find the box, climb a few feet more and on the right, there is a nice private alcove to read our story and for stamp time. Remember not to let anyone see you retrieve the box and don’t forget to put it back the way you found it, so that others may find it too. If you have trouble finding the box and need more hints, if the box is damaged or if you want to comment on our story, please e mail from the Letterboxing site.

Epilogue: Thank you for taking the time to visit our box and please take a token to show our appreciation. For me, luck is not an option, love is the guiding light.
