Peter Wolf Toth (born December 1947) is a Hungarian-born sculptor, who immigrated to the United States and settled in Akron, Ohio. He later studied art at the University of Akron. He created a series of sculptures called Trail of the Whispering Giants to honor Native Americans. Overall, he has created more than 60 sculptures, including at least one in each state of the United States, and in several provinces of Canada.
In 1976, Toth carved a statue in Missippi. By 1999, it was in serious disrepair, and needed replacing. The local officials thought that Toth had died so they hired a local artist to carve a replacement. His replacement statues stands today, and is very similar to Toth's original work.
Find the statue. Stand facing the front of the statue. Look to your left (roughly East). You will see a cycad bush. The box is hidden under the fronds on the far (East) side.
NOTE Some sites describing the location of this statue list a Super 8 motel nearby. It has changed owners and is no longer a Super 8.
