Stamp hand-carved
Walking time: about 10 to 15 minutes one way
Trail difficulty: a dirt trail with a few ups & downs, but fairly easy if you return the way you came
Status: Alive and well on April 21, 2016

This boxed is placed in honor of my newest granddog named Murray, a Shih-Tzu, at the request of my granddaughter.

From Coloma, drive north on State Highway 49. After crossing over the American River Bridge drive about 1.2 miles and turn left (west) into Dave Moore Natural Area. Park in the lot.

From the parking lot, walk west on the trail past the restroom. Walk past a huge "sandwich rock" on the right, continue past a huge multi-trunk Madrone Tree on the right to a sharp hair-pin right curve, and then across a wooden bridge. From the end of the bridge walk about 53 steps to a left turn. From the center of the turn, go at about 340 degrees (from mag. north) for about 50 steps to a tall Madrone tree with low branches covering the ground. The letterbox is on the left (SW) side of the tree under a flat rock and covered with some plant debris.

Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rock and cover with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

Please let me know if the box needs attention or is missing:
