To find this Letterbox, you will need to drive to Hubbard Park in Meriden, CT. The closest parking area is near the white gazebo, but it’s a short walk from anywhere near the duck pond. This hike includes some stairs, slight inclines, and short off-path walking.
If you've parked near the Duck Pond, begin by walking past the blue & stone skate house, the waterfall and the fountain. Go straight down the driveway/road that leads to the white gazebo on your right (and the outdoor stage on your distant left). Continue on the walking path passing the five tall trees that mingle with the mountain laurels. Cross the stream using the wooden bridge and continue on the paved footpath. You’ll cross a one-way park road, walking diagonally to your right.
Next you’ll see a set of about 6 uneven stone stairs that are almost 3 feet wide, surrounded by rocks on either side. Continue up these stairs and walk for about 15 paces (count 1 pace each time you put your left foot down) along a moss-covered path. This is a slight incline so take your time with loose sticks, stones and wet leaves. You will come to a flat gravel path. Turn left and follow it around a right-bend for approximately 30 paces. You should see Siamese-based trees on your left. At this point you will want to turn RIGHT (go off the path, into the woods). In the fall and spring, the slight path from animals is visible but when the flora grows in, you’ll want to be careful of various plants (and as always check for bugs before you go home). You should walk 6 paces before you come to a sturdy, tall tree on your left with the remains of a fallen tree at its base. Under the flat rock, you should find Funky Froggy & Funky Fly. Please be sure to seal all baggies, close all four sides of the lid, and hide it well when you are finished.
