Another reservoir walk . Three miles one way. This box was planted before any snow had fallen and I'm sure it's under a few feet of the white stuff. Today marks the sixth anniversary of the first box find by the Rubaduc and Gizz duo so it seems appropriate to log the plant today.

Find the reservoir on route 4 and park in the nice new lot on the left after you drive in. At the far end of the lot is a sign that says red loop. Take that and when you get to the main road, go right following red/yellow blazes until yellow finally turns left for the second time and goes over a bridge (Middle Road). Stay straight on red passing a paved road on the right (Canal Road) and just after a hairpin curve to the left (at the end of res. #5) and after a very abused beech tree, go right onto a dirt road (Northwest Road) that will soon become a paved road and then gravel. You’ll pass an intersection where you can go left to get a good view of the water but stay straight and after going downhill, watch for a left turn (this is a Y intersection) at a row of boulders (just past the Cottonwood tree). Stay on this road (avoiding side trails) passing the Asa Spaulding Porter Forest marker on the right and eventually rounding the far end of Reservoir #2. Go uphill avoiding all side trails until you come to a T intersection with a log bench, go right again. At the next T intersection, go left (Finger Rock Road) and walk forever (only half a mile :-) ignoring all side trails, crossing over a gas (?) line marked by an orange post and coming to a giant ledge on the right. I was disappointed at first but getting closer you can “see” the finger. Just before this is a short stone wall on the left and partway between this wall and the finger is a three sister tree (with a leaner) on the left. At the base of the leaner (in the roots?) is the box. (12-09-2011)I've been told that the three sister is now a two and the leaner is on the ground.
