West Virginia State Farm Museum

Mason County has many large fields along the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers that have helped build a strong agriculture base. It is not surprising, then, that the state farm museum should be located here. Comprised of many restored log buildings including a church, school, post office, etc., it also houses farm implements of a bygone era, and the amateur taxidermy collection that includes General, one of the country’s largest draft horses that ever lived. The museum is closed in winter months, Usually opening around April 1st.

For mor information about the State Farm Museum, see the following link: http://www.wvfarmmuseum.org/

Clues: To find the West Virginia State Farm Museum letterbox, travel north in Mason County on Rt. 62 through Point Pleasant, noting the mile marker signs. Pass mile marker 28, then you will pass the Lakin Correctional Facility, WV State Police and Lakin Hospital all on your right. Turn right onto State Farm Road and notice the evergreens on the left that line the fence with utility poles rising above. The paved road ends with the hospital delivery turning to the right but continue a bit further and turn at the green gate on the left. Going back toward Rt. 62, notice that there is a utility pole at the end of the row of shrubs. Continue past it to the next one. Stop along side it. Pop in among the shrubs just left of the utility pole and see a camouflaged pouch wedged with a limb against it. Please reseal well and rehide as found. Continue back to Rt. 62 and head north to find "Huck on the Ohio?" Letterbox. Notice the historical marker on your left and the Clements State Tree Farm on your right.
