Mudbug is just another name for the tasty little crustacean also known as crawfish, crayfish or crawdad. Though now eaten just about everywhere, Louisiana has long been the state with greatest interest in catching, commercially raising, and eating crawfish, which is now the state crustacean. Some examples of ways to eat crawfish include: boiled, fried, crawfish pie, etouffee, jambalaya and bisque. The mudbug can be found in almost any fresh water bayou or lake, but this Mudbug microbox can only be found in Sam Houston Jones SP. The park is located just north of the most productive birding region of Louisiana, and the hiking trails winding along the Calcasieu River are very scenic. This is a different box and stamp from the original Mudbug LB that went missing, so is a new Find.

Directions:
Sam Houston Jones SP is located twelve miles north of Lake Charles. From I10, exit on Hwy 171 and go north for 4 miles. Turn left on LA 378, then right on Spur 378 for 1 mile, then left again on Sutherland Road for .3 mile to entrance fee station. Pay fee, get map and drive to the Longleaf Pine Trail (Blue), bearing right at all junctions.

Clues:
Walk west on the Blue Trail for about 75 yards to the first Yellow Trail sign on your left. Go on the Yellow Trail about 300 yards to another Yellow Trail sign at the river where the trail bends right. Go left behind the sign off trail for 175 steps, staying on the bluff along the river to an old bench. Continue 10 steps then go left 8 steps to stump at end of long log. Continue 2 steps to small bush behind stump where microbox is hanging in middle 1 foot high. Please rehide as described.
