Terrain: Dirt trail in the woods with some hills and along a lakeshore.

Seeking religious freedom, the Pilgrims traveled from England to Holland, then to North America. After arriving, they expanded their settlement all along the east coast. Like the pilgrims, we also travel – but our reasons are simply for pleasure! We took a short trip over Thanksgiving weekend in 2010 that took us through Kentucky. In honor of the holiday and those hardy Pilgrim settlers, we left behind a letterbox. To discover the location, you’ll first need to solve a crossword puzzle located here: www.letterboxing.homestead.com/Pilgrims.html

Use your answers to decipher the following:

Drive to the lower or upper parking lot at far end of the road. Make your way to the D11B11M1A20N19R12P18H10O9J20L3 trailhead in the corner of the upper lot. Up, up up! Right at B10E13H9J12 then down. Right at F15Q15P8B12. Stop at the next post on the right side of trail. Take 19 more steps along the trail to a fallen cut tree. You’ll find the Pilgrims taking a rest from their travels under some rocks at the base.

Continue onward to complete your own travels. Loop down & around, then cross black to the opposite trail. Enjoy a scenic stroll along the water to return to the parking lots.

We live quite a distance from here, so we’d really enjoy an email update to let us know how this box is doing. Thanks!
