Troll House

"Of all the places I have lived," thought the troll, "This one is by far the best. It is peaceful at night and the rumbling of the cars going by reminds me of time I spent by the sea…I have tried living in trees and under bridges…my favorite place…but the foot traffic there has gotten so vast, that once again I have had to move…"

How I do miss, the visits from my little magical friends, the fae ones…the fairies and pixies, elves and gnomes, and the brownies…so for you, my magical friends, I offer these directions to my new home…come and visit, leave your mark and cover me well so others may visit me too. A word to the wise, don’t take too long, first to find gets the gold coin!

To the box:

Your journey begins at the main parking lot of Finch Arboretum. Head west at 280 degrees, you will see a wooden bridge. Head that way. On your left you will see the “Lovers Tree” where knarled branches are carved the declarations of love and devotion. After you cross the bridge, head up the hill frolicking through the leaves if you venture forth in the fall, the warm sunshine if in summer. You will pass a mound of rocks on your right. As you keep heading in a northern direction, you will eventually come to the edge of the park. You will come to a walking trail. Go right at the fork. The sunset highway will be on your right. Follow this path, if you tire, there will be a bench on your right where you may rest for a bit and enjoy looking at an Eastern Redbud.

After you catch your breath, continue along the path past another giant rock formation on your right and spy the pine tree growing out of the top…nestled in its branches there could be a faires home. From the pine tree located directly in front of this outcropping of rocks, take approximately 75 steps forward, while staying on the trail. Now stop and look to your right and you will see my house hidden among the trees, snuggled up against yet another outcrop of rocks. I cannot leave my treasure here…too easily found by muggles. So, my friend, walk to the back of my house. To the left you will see a very large pine tree stretching into the sky. Go to this tree. Directly behind the tree you will see a small boulder behind a very large rock. As you go around the back of this outcropping, you will see yet another smaller boulder on your left- stand and face this smaller boulder. Directly on your right, you will see 3 rocks piled in a rather suspicious manner. Under these rocks you will find my treasure box.

Stop, stamp, and say hello!

Yours on the trail,

Troll Keeper
