Mount Gretna Benchmark

From Rt 72 take the Mount Gretna exit and go west on Rt 117 approximately 1 mile. On your left will be a State Game Land parking lot, park there. Carefully cross Rt 117 and you will find a spur trail that heads west paralleling Rt 117 until it hooks north and meets the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail (LVRT). Take a right onto the LVRT and head north on the trail (you will be heading east towards Cornwall). You will be at the highest point on the rail trail with benches on both sides of the trail. Continue east passing a third bench in memory of Adin Senseng. Continue east until you see a brown single home on your left just off the trail. Now look to your right for a large boulder with a bronze “Bench Mark” embedded on top of the boulder approximately 50 feet off the trail. Once you find the “Bench Mark” take 20 steps on a heading of 265 degrees magnetic. Under a smaller boulder is what you seek.
