Lufbery Park Nature Series
Lufbery Park is off Exit 64 southbound off the Wilbur Cross Parkway in Wallingford. Head up Cheshire Road and Lufbery Park will be a short distance up the hill on your left.
1. Park in the lot and walk up to the Lufbery Park trail kiosk. Take a look at the map. Your letterbox hunt today will lead you on an easy hike through the park. Enjoy your hunt!
2. Walk up the trial behind the kiosk. Follow the white blazes.
3. The trail goes straight for quite a while…..keep walking.
4. You will come to a bench.
5. Enjoy the lovely view of Wallingford and Meriden’s hills
6. Look to your left, and follow the follow the fence to a large oak tree. The Music Woman's Passion http://letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?boxnum=7533&boxname=Music_Woman%27s_Passion letterbox is hidden behind the oak tree. Stamp in.
7. Go back to the bench, turn around and face the direction you came from. Look to your left and you will see a small trail with white blazes on the trees. Follow this trail.
8. Look to the right and you will see a large fallen dead tree with many roots.
9. Walk 20 paces towards this tree.
10. Follow the length of the trunk. The “Squirrel” Letterbox is wedged under this tree near a small tree with many trunks. There is a small rock in front of the box.
If you want to explore more of the park, return to the bench. Follow the fence uphill and this will lead you to other trails. The park is small, so you will not get lost.
