UPDATE 01/22/2011 - Replaced Box #7 - new location.

This series was planted in conjuction with the 10-10-10 event put on by Coastal Redwoods at the Cedar Grove Park in Tustin, CA. This series is within walking distance of the park, but is actually in the bottom third of Peters Canyon Park. The trailhead is about a mile away. From Cedar Grove Park head north on the trail that borders the park on the west side. Go past the school, and some housing to the start of the park. Enter the park through the white gate along a beige wall just right of the large drain channel. If you enter the park further up, just take note of the wall referenced in the clues later. Follow the wall to the end and then take the paved path left to the park's trailheads.

Box #1. TEN Yard Line – Take the trailhead on the right that begins uphill. Go a mere 30 steps up hill to the bench and sit. About 20 steps to your left is a small pipe sticking out of a larger pipe. The smaller pipe is pointing to a nearby tree. The box can be found in the V of that tree.

Box #2. TEN Ball – Continue up the hill past marker 2.5 until you are almost even the beige wall you walked along earlier, and the trail takes a sharp left turn. At about 10 feet off the trail to the east, next to the tree below the V trunk you will find the box.

Box #3. TEN Little Indians – Continue up the hill to the bench at the top and sit. You will find the TEN Little Indians camped out behind the short log about 10 feet behind you on your right under some rocks.

Box #4. Hard TEN – The hike to the next box is the most (only) difficult section. Head down the East Ridge Trail, then up, then down, and back up a "hard" steep hill. Once on top you should see a metal post about 10 feet to the right of the trail. The box is hidden at its base, under rocks.

Box #5. TEN Commandments – Continue along the trail past marker 2 up this gentle climb until you come to the top of this hill. Take the short trail to your right 25 steps to a bush right where the small trail turns right. The box can be found at the center of that bush under a rock.

Box #6. TEN Speed – I know the trail looks like it is about to get worse, but head downhill on the ridge trail, and turn left at the bottom of the hill onto Scout Hill Trail. Go about 70-75 steps to a trunk with a wide V just left of the trail. I left my TEN speed behind the narrow V trunk tree 20-25 feet left of trail under a rock.

Box #7. TEN mph – Continue down hill but watch that you do not pick up too much speed. Soon you should see a speed limit sign just before a sharp right turn in the trail. If you llok to the left of the sign, under some brush and a wood wedge, the box can be found here. (replaced 01/22/2011)

Box #8. Hang TEN – Get back on the trail and continue down hill to the junction with Peter's Canyon Trail. There is a bench there to take a rest if you like. Behind the bench is the Creek Trail. Head down this trail a short way to a green bridge. The box can be found at the base of the tree just right of the trail where the bridge begins, between dead and live trunks.

Box #9. TEN O-clock – Return to the Peters Canyon Trail and head downhill (right). Go a short ways until you come to another bench on the right. Go to the end of the bench and facing downhill (toward the wood fence and white gate). At 10 o'clock and about 18 steps you will find this micro box at the base of the three trunk tree, under plant debris.

Box #10. Pair of TENs – Continue down the trail past the water trough for the horses, until you can see the white gate at the trailhead. About 50 steps before you get to the final bench near the Kiosk, there will be a tree about 10 feet off the trail on the right. You will find the final box at the base of this tree covered with plant debris.

Now that you are back to the trailhead, return any way you wish.
