----------------------------------------------------------

Back in 2007, our very first letterboxing find was the Buffy Box, created by Dragon. And the choice of that box as our first find was no mistake. Since early in the show’s run, Lock and Shock were hooked, and it didn’t take too long for Barrel to join us. So this series was probably every bit as destined as the Slayer herself.

Each entry in the series is actually a pair of boxes – sometimes in the same cemetery, sometimes in two cemeteries relatively near to one another. And to find the names of the cemeteries that you’ll visit, you need to answer a few questions about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The answers to these questions form a code but (good news!) the same code works for all 12 boxes. So once you’ve answered them once, you can use the same code for the subsequent entries in the series.

As for the cemeteries themselves, we tried to find unique places. They are typically the cemeteries that you might spend literally years driving right past without noticing, or without even realizing that they’re there. But they all have a bit of character. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

The third pair of boxes belong to Faith and Giles. The specific clues follow the questions.

___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___

3. What were the creepy evil beings from the critically acclaimed episode “Hush” called?

___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___

4. What writer and director created “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”?

___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___

5. What does Buffy slay (primarily)?

All right, so now for the clues:

Box 1 – Faith

Cemetery: 12-21-8-4-5-4

This is one of those cemeteries that you could drive right past a million times without seeing it. It’s tucked away behind a strip mall, but it has a special significance for Lake County history. Daniel Wright, the first permanent settler to Lake County, is buried there, and his marker will be your starting point for both the Faith and Giles boxes.

To find Faith, start at Daniel Wright’s grave and take a compass bearing of 40 degrees. Take 18 steps to where Lucinda and William are buried. From there, take a new bearing of 20 degrees, and walk 16 steps to a broken stone.

Another bearing (10 degrees this time) and 13 steps will get you to the base of a large pine tree. From here, walk straight north, past the asphalt path, to a fallen one, kept standing by the arms of its friends.

Box 2 – Giles

Cemetery: 12-21-8-4-5-4

Now, go back to Daniel Wright’s memorial, and walk to a bronze Angel. From this spot, take a bearing of 320 degrees, and walk 33 steps to a place where a girl engages peacefully in one of Giles’ favorite activities. A new bearing of 350 degrees, and 25 more steps, will lead you to the stump of a tree where you’ll find the Giles box. Please rehide well!
