This box is located at the Shuman Point Natural Area.

Shuman Point is located about 2.5 miles on Route 590 West from the Rt. 6 intersection (adjacent to Lake Wallenpaupack Dam)in Hawley, PA. The GPS coordinates of the parking lot are N41 27.031 W75 12.306.

GET A MAP OF THE HIKING TRAIL BEFORE YOU START WALKING.THEY ARE AVAILABLE AT BOTH BEGINNINGS OF THE TRAIL.

Begin by walking counterclockwise on the blue trail up the mountain to the right of the parking area. Walk up the hill, down the hill to the lake, along the lake and up the hill to the 'White Pine' indicated on the map. This is at the tip of the peninsula. Up the hill, near the 'White Pine', the trail will fork. Bear to the right (you may have to walk around a fallen tree). There will be an old rock wall on the left and the lake (not visible) on your right. A short walk will reveal a clearing with fallen trees on your left and a large stump in the middle. Continue on the trail between 2 White Pines into another small clearing. A large, single White Pine will be in front of you as well as the lake. Put your back against the tree and look to your left (west). Walk 14 paces to a cluster of trees. What you seek is in the hollow of one of these trees. Please replace, hidden from view, when you are finished.
