Box #2 of 2 boxes Traditional and Gospel
My immediate family consists of my husband, two daughters and myself. My husband was born and raised in the Smokey Mountains of Western North Carolina, having come to Connecticut with the U.S. Navy. He always played old country and bluegrass guitar. Can you imagine his delight, when after a bluegrass show in Colchester in 1981, our daughters, ages 9 and 13, wanted to play bluegrass music. So----we all were hooked. After a few lessons and then learning on their own, we had a family bluegrass band and played and sang at bluegrass festivals, concerts, shows, churches and traveled throughout New England and New York plus winning contests. Several years later a son-in-law joined and we had a 5 piece band…..my husband on lead and rhythm guitar, younger daughter on fiddle, mandolin and guitar, older daughter on 5-string banjo, her husband on mandolin and guitar, me on upright bass and 1st grand daughter age 7 singing with us. Those were wonderfully good musical years. Time passes and other obligations and responsibilities take priority. They still play occasionally with others and I still have my memories, friends , CDs and Videos of all our shows.
