Driving directions: Take exit 19 from I-89, and go straight on Rte. 4 through West Lebanon then continue on Route 10 north toward Hanover. Just past the Lebanon/Hanover boundary, there’s a blinking light. Go left onto Wyeth Road, then left onto Chambers Rd and right onto Faraway Lane. There is parking on the right across from the park entrance.

This letterbox is in Chambers Memorial Park, dedicated in 1973 to the memory of Dr. William Chambers, a respected physician and naturalist. The park is owned by the Connecticut River Watershed Council and maintained by the Lebanon Conservation Commission. It’s designed to provide a quiet place for stuyding nature, birdwatching, walking or or simply relaxing. There’s no camping, motorized vehicles or fires allowed. Some of the trails continue on to privateproperty. Please respect the landowners’ rights. The park closes at sunset.

Clues

Follow the trail marked with blue and white blazes into the park to a meadow. Walk along the right edge, along the tree line to the first trail on the right. A few yards in, you'll see a sign "To Memorial Plaque." Continue downhill following the trail which curves to the left. At the next junction go right, still downhill, until you reach the bank of the Connecticut River. Enjoy the view of this majestic river as you pass a rope swing, coming to a group of trees and a trail to the right. Take this trail and follow it (blue and whiteblazes) uphill. When you get to landing and junction, go right past the arrows to a tree marked with a No. 4. Facing the No. 4, look downhill to your right, about 3 yards, to a sawed-off log. Leave Only Footprints is under the log on the far side.

To return to your car, retrace your steps to the junction, go right and follow the blue blazes out to the meadow.

The Connecticut River Duck is hiding away somewhere in this park also.
