Placerville Pioneer Cemetery

Directions: From Idaho City’s State Route 21 head down Montgomery Road and turn left on Centerville Road. This road will vary from dirt to pavement for 15 miles to the letterbox. Wind around on the road. Come to a “T” and turn right toward Placerville. At the next “T” turn left and follow signs to the cemetery, about a mile from that 2nd “T.” While in town make sure you look for the clever and FUNNY LOOKING ELK. Park at the entrance to the cemetery.

Description: A short stroll around a pioneer cemetery.

Clues: Find the 3 CROSSES. Follow the road next to these crosses down 22 paces/44 steps to the 3 large pines. In their base under lots of pine needles and one rock is what you seek. Carefully rehide the William F. Connaughton box.
