$$ This box is inside Seneca Park Zoo. If your are not a Zoo Member, there is a charge to get in.

This is an easy walk to the letterbox through the zoo.

As you enter the zoo, bear right and go past the Snow Leopards. The Snow Leopards are a new addition to the zoo this year and will become part of a zoo breeding program to increase the number of species in the wild.

After passing the Snow Leopards, you will come to a fork in the path. Go left and say hello to the Rhino brothers. If its later in the day (after 3pm) you may see the brothers “wrestling” and running around their enclosure.

Look for the Genesee Trail and take that path. On your right you will see a REALLY old tree. Stop and read about the history that tree had “seen” over the years. When were you born? Continue down the path towards the Eco Center.

At the Eco Center you can find two Burmese Pythons on exhibit. The burmese python has become a HUGE problem in places like the Florida Everglades where people released them into the wild when they got too big. They then took over and killed off many of the native species that lived there. This is called “invasive”.

After leaving the Eco Center, turn left and follow the path around the building to the left. Pass over the dedicated stones and down the hill. Continue to follow this path until you see a big totem pole.

At the totem pole bear left and go past the cougers and down a small hill. Look for the entrance to Rocky Coasts on the right. Go inside and you may be lucky enough to see the Polar Bears and/or Sea Lions up against the glass.

Leave Rocky Coasts and turn right. You will go up a small hill and be at an intersection. The path continues to go around the polar bears to the right and another goes around and down to the elephants to the left.

You will see a rock wall! This is your destination! The letterbox is behind the rock wall, under a big, flat rock, in a hole. The is a high traffic area!! BE CAREFUL THAT NO ONE SEES YOU TAKE OUT THE LETTER BOX and move away from the area when you stamp it. Please hide it in the hole under the rock when you are done.

Thanks for visiting this letterbox put here by the ZooTeens of 2010!
