In the Trail of Fears series along the Cannon Valley Bike Trail. Also accessible by canoe or kayak from the river. There's a $3/day fee for biking or rollerblading on the trail during the summer.
Chiroptophobia, the fear of bats. Why don't we like these furry fliers. Just because they get in your hair, bite your neck, carry rabies and are the source of many bad movies? Forget all that. Bats are our friends; they eat mosquitoes.
To the box: Between mile markers 13 and 14 on the Cannon Valley Bike Trail there are two bridges. Your interest is in the easternmost bridge. Approaching from the east: after mile marker 14 there will be a rest stop with one bench on the right, then a rest stop with two benches on the left, then the bridge. Approaching from the west: after mile marker 13 you'll see railroad marker 87, then a small bridge, then the bridge of interest. There's a washed-out gravel road crossing the bike trail just to the west of the bridge. There's a quarry on the south side and a SNA on the north. Seek a silver bat under the northwest corner of the bridge.
