Difficulty level: easy but trail not stroller friendly
Estimated time: 45-60 minutes round trip

Starting Point: Ludington State Park is located 8 miles north of Ludington on Lakeshore Dr. and M-116. From Ludington, take Lakeshore Dr. north for 8 miles. Lakeshore Dr. becomes M-116, follow M-116 to the end to the state park entrance.

*You will need to pay a user fee/admission at the main gate unless you have a state sticker for the current year. Pick up a trail map at the main gate.

Once you've entered at the main gate, take the first drive on the RIGHT, heading eastward. Take the park road all the way to the end until it opens up into a large parking area. Park near the concession stand/restroom building. Recommended: Bug spray!

Start at Trail marker 14
Hike past playground and boat rentals to begin Island/Lost Lake trails
Just past Trail marker 12, turn right onto the boardwalk. At the first boardwalk intersection, turn left (west) into Beechwood campground. Do not take the small boardwalk onto Island Trail, which is right at trail marker 12.
Cut through the brick restroom/bath house. Potty break anyone?
When you get to the service road, turn left (south) and pick up the trail again at Trail marker 11. This is your FIRST arrow.
SECOND arrow: COAST GUARD.
THIRD arrow: over the top of the hill.
FOURTH arrow: turn right and go down a short sandy hill.
FIFTH arrow: watch the roots!
In between 5th and 6th arrows: Look across a fallen tree on your left. Slightly up the hill, there is a tree with a white dash on the trunk. Behind this tree and to the left are two trees that form a "V" with a fallen tree between them at their bases. Behind the "V" is your first prize. Go back to path to continue
SIXTH arrow: pass a swamp on your right.
Pass the SEVENTH arrow on your right. (This post is knocked down, so it might not be there)
EIGHTH arrow: Moss alert! (Do not worry, moss is harmless)
In between the 8th and 9th arrows: Look over another fallen tree but to the right this time to find a short, dead tree with fungi (mushrooms) growing up the sides. 2nd clue is at the base of this tree. Go back and continue on path.
NINTH arrow: second swamp is on the right.
Up, up a steep hill for the TENTH arrow (it's a 3D arrow)
ELEVENTH arrow: Top of the hill (this arrow is broken but post is there). About 25 kid paces past this arrow, note two separate trees that look like they are growing together as one on the right.
TWELFTH arrow: Stop here for third box (this arrow has also been broken off, post is still there). Down the hill on your right behind the first large fallen tree in between the arrow and swamp number 3. Under this tree at the stump end on the swamp side of the tree is your destination for box #3.
THIRTEENTH arrow: Go down a small hill and up a small hill. Look into the little valley below. 13 is an unlucky number but today you are lucky to find the 4th and final box. About 25 paces across the ridge to your left is a cluster of trees with a fallen tree leaning up against them. Around the back under sticks and leaves completes your search.

Please be discreet as you stamp your book and ours. No ink provided, you must bring your own. Please return box to hiding place carefully and cover up to keep it safe.

Happy Hiking! Hope you had FUN!
