Pywiack is the Ahwahneechee indian word for a very beautiful lake in the High Sierra mountains in a very famous park. It means "Lake of Shining Rocks". The official US name is different. It was named in honor of an Ahwahneechee chief who aided white soldiers only to be driven from the land by white militias in the early 1850's. To find this box you must figure out the name of this Chief.

Clues: Cross the beach on the east end of the lake. Cross the stream on the log bridge, or wade across. When you reach the end of the beach continue to wander into the forest and find the trail. Head in a SW direction on the trail. At the second metal hollow log walk up stream to the rock with a tree. Look south to an old downed tree. Look under the granite rocks at the base of the upright tree where it meets the old downed tree. (Sorry the stamp is spelled incorrectly. I hope the Chief will forgive me. I honor him and all who have come before me to keep this area so beautiful.)
