Start at Mono Village Camp ground at Upper Twin Lake. Take the trail by the meadow toward Barney Lake. At the trail sign to Barney stay straight, not right. Cross the bridge and proceed to the fish ponds. Sorry No Fishing! Go to the end of the chain link and take 19 steps in the middle of the road. From there turn right and take 31 steps in the clearing. On your right there will be two aspen trees, one small on the left, and a larger one with a root exposed on the right. At the base of the large one is a rock cairn between the Aspen and a stump. The box rests inside. I didn’t have access to stamps while here so I used stickers instead, they are in the box.
After your find take the time to explore the fish ponds here. They are used to stock fish in Twin Lakes. If you continue on the trail it will take you back through the woods to the campground by way of F camp. A very nice easy walk. Have fun.
