From I-84, take Exit 40. Go north on Ridgewood Road and turn left on to Sedgewick Road, which merges into Mountain Road. The park will be on your left a short distance past Farmington Avenue.
The Green Fairy Flies to Spicebush Swamp Park
The Green Fairy is flying all across Connecticut to visit her friends.
Today she visited Spicebush Swamp Park to visit the Green Caterpillar. When you find the Green Caterpillar’s house, there will be a letterbox as well as some fairy dust to sprinkle! Good luck!
This hike is relatively easy, bring bug spray!
• From the parking lot, walk across the grass to the Memorial Rock dedicated to Shirley Marsh.
• Cross over the wooden bridge
• Walk to the left and cross over another wooden bridge.
• The trail will fork quickly, take a right.
• You will pass a red circle with a silver arrow in it, and a red circle with a hiker in it.
• Shortly after, the path will branch right toward the pond. Do not go right, stay straight on the path.
• Keep on the path, as it curves to the right and passes a stream on your left.
• Continue on the trail, passing a cement block on your left.
• Pass through a series of tangly trees on the right and left of the path.
• You will see another red circle with a silver arrow. Just before this arrow, take a lightly treaded path to your left.
• Very shortly after, you will come to a dead tree on your right that’s missing its top.
• Look between the dead tree and a skinny tree on its left under a pile of bark to find what the Green Fairy left!
Please email if there are any problems with the letterbox: jolenemiceli@cox.net
