Many thanks to the people who have worked to maintain this charming and historic school building and keep it open for self-guided tours!
Follow scenic County Road N north out of Pepin for 8 miles and find Little Plum School (circa 1899) on the right. You can let yourself in and enjoy the displays there, read the school's history and sign the guestbook.
The letterbox is in the last desk of the middle row. Enjoy!
Please note: You can continue on County Road N to another letterbox at Dead Lake just past the little town of Ella. There is also a worthy and informative wayside and scenic overlook of the Tiffany Wildlife Area just beyond that. Here, too, are the last remnants of the historic Dead Lake Prairie. You can read an entertaining history of the area at http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/wlhba/articleView.asp?pg=1&id=6302&hdl=&np=&adv=yes&ln=&fn=&q=&y1
