This letterbox is located in Bowman Lake State Park. Take route 220 West from the town of Oxford about 6 miles and follow the signs for Bowman Lake State Park. This park offers fishing, swimming, camping and hiking. It is in a very remote area.
We would classify this letterbox as "easy" and suitable for all ages and abilities. It is a short hike into the woods (1/2 mile or so?).
Warning: Could be extra challenging during rainy periods & spring runoff.
* Start between the 2 campsites on the sharp curve closest to the beach
where the kids slide & swing
& crawl & sing.
* Enter yellow swatch trail on the left.
* Follow the yellow swatch trail,
crossing the water without getting wet.
* Turn to 3 o'clock.
* Walk along where the crayfish live.
Don't fall in and don't get bit.
* On the left of your path you will hopefully see,
2 big trees with a rock pointing nicely.
* Stop and look up for the "O"
That cannot stop the water flow.
* Go stand above this H2O
Then go to the source of the flow.
* Look across & you will see
A big old rock on top of a "V".
* This rock is guarded by the trees you see
Make sure you cross carefully.
* Beneath this rock is your prize.
Stamp our book & write your goodbyes.
* Close me up tight
For the night
& hide me away
In the same place to stay.
