The Old Man and the Sea

Ernest Miller Hemingway (July 21, 1899 – July 2, 1961) was an American writer and journalist. His distinctive writing style, characterized by economy and understatement, influenced 20th-century fiction, as did his life of adventure and public image. He produced most of his work between the mid-1920s and the mid-1950s, and his career peaked in 1954 when he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Many of his works are classics of American literature.

>>>>>WARNING: Please be aware that this is a public park. Be discrete when stamping and rehiding. Also, be sure to bring your own ink. Our stamps are hand carved.<<<<<

Starting at The Ernest Hemingway Museum at 200 N. Oak Park in Oak Park, IL, make your way safely across Oak Park Avenue to Holy Ground. Cross safely again to the southwest corner. Make a 90 degree turn to your right and begin walking. Take note of your surroundings. You are standing at the Continental Divide for the St. Lawrence Seaway. A plaque will commemorate this geographical phenomenon. Continuing westward, also note the tree dedicated to Papa Hemingway from his sister on your left hand side.
Again, walking westward with the courts on your left, head for the lot for tots. Rest yourself in the shade on the bench furthest from Ontario with your back towards the court. Once you have rested, perhaps a drink of water would refresh you. A drinking fountain can be found behind the building to your left. While sipping the water, notice a brick in the evergreen bushes? Underneath will be the prize you seek.

*PLEASE NOTE : The Urban Trails Familia have gotten notice that the box had been left out in the open. Please make sure to hide the box under the brick as you found it under the evergreen bushes so that others may enjoy finding it as well. thank you!
