This is a quick and easy find at one of the viewing spots for Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe. If you have time, walk down the hill to visit Vikingsholm. As long as you’re in the area, check out our other box at Eagle Lake.

Park in the Vikingsholm parking lot off Hwy 89. It can get very full during the summer. Please be very careful seeking out this box as the area attracts a fair amount of foot traffic.

Begin on the path down toward to the Lake. It’s marked with a No Parking sign. Start down the gravel path until you reach the Information signs. This is a very short walk from the parking lot.

Immediately after you pass the signs, turn left off the main path. You’ll see a narrow “path” between two large flat rocks that leads into the scrub. Once you cross the flat rock, go left following the edge of the rock until it ends and the bushes begin. The box is hidden at the edge of the bushes right next to the large flat rock under some dead wood and a smaller rock. From the Information signs to the box location is not far at all, so if you go very far along the narrow path you’ve gone too far.

When you return the box to its location please hide it well to protect it from the snow and rain.

Enjoy this letterbox and gorgeous view of Emerald Bay!
