These Boxes can be found at Open land Gristmill Trail on the Far Mill River in Shelton CT

WEAR BOOTS, FIRST HALF HUGS RIVER BED, CAN BE VERY MUDDY.

About the stamps:
This series contains 6 boxes, the first of which is a standard letterbox and contains the series logbook. The remaining 5 are minis and are buried in plastic eggs (the kind you get out of vending machines that contain prizes in the grocery store). You will have to look carefully for these as they are no bigger than a closed fist.

These stamps are a “layer stamp” this means they are designed to stamp on top of each other. Box 1 contains the base; the remaining 5 can be stamped on-top of it however you wish! Enjoy.

Boxes do not contain ink, but if you can bring markers and use multiple colors to bring this more to life.

A little personal information:
For a short while now I have been enjoying carving and placing stamps. Before now they have all been basic/simple carves and very have contained very simple designs. (I was a little gun-shy to try anything bigger or more daring.) However, I recently discovered that I’m actually not so bad at it and I really like doing it. My first real carve is to debut at an upcoming event, this series is actually what was left over from the pink stuff when I was done; it seamed a shame to toss it so here is what I came up with.

Clues:

Tree:
To find this tree enter the trail area and take the smaller trail which lead off to the right along the waters edge (past the bench)
You will continue on this path a little ways, it does occasionally split off winding in both along the river and slightly at higher ground, either path is okay.
You will cross over a piece of heavy duty guard rail wire which comes from beneath the river bed, through the mud, and attaches to a tree on your left side.
Shortly after this guard rail tree you will find yourself looking at a spot where the trail and riverbed side become one cross this area and continue along the path.
Soon you will see a huge poser/5-sister tree on you right. Tucked in this tree beneath rocks and debris you will find Box #1. (This is the only logbook for the series)
A little side note if the path enters the river with no signs of it coming back out, you’ve gone too far.
To find your decorations turn around and go back to where you came from.

Bow:
Back at where the trail splits and the bench sits, you will see a large grouping of stones/rocks that begin on land and end in the water.
Look for the stone that reads “XXX REIV Till we meet again”, tucked along its right side, beneath a few small rocks you will find Box #2

Star:
Continue on the path (note just like the other side, this path splits and winds two ways often, hug the rivers edge as much as you can) and reach a spot where a 3 sister tree grows as part of the river bank and leans slightly over the river
From this tree walk 6 paces (1 pace=2 steps) and find a 4 sister tree whose roots are exposed and entangled with another.
Here in this web of roots see a small pile of rocks on the left. This is where you will find Box #3

Candy Cane:
Once again continue along the path, this time stay with it as it winds in and out of the trees line/woods.
You will pass a white blazed 2 sister tree, followed by a sandy area.
Next you will come to a White blazed 3 sister on your right. Stand with this tree at your right shoulder and look directly left. Spot the tree with two hollow nubs near its base.
In the bottom of the lower of the two nubs find Box #4

Ornament:
Yup, back to the path (sorry there is only one main trail but great area isn’t it, this whole trail is .32 mile and stretches along Mill Street, I really like it here, outside of the fishermen and occasionally a dog walker, it’s a very quite area. Also, I love all the weird trees and odd shapes they have formed, the whole area is a mass of nature gone wild, eh-but I digress)
You will cross over a sandy/rooty area.
Past a very scared tree (how sad)
Now the path comes to a more pronounce fork, at this area spot the right side fork which leads to the water’s edge.
Here you will find what I have named a hunk-o-tree, wow it’s a poser/sister/rooter/nubber mass of tree (I think it might just be one of the coolest trees I’ve ever seen) At this tree’s base and to its right side you will see some exposed roots.
Look to find a moss-tip covered rock, behind this rock, under the roots find Box #5
(you do not need to move the mossy one to get the box only the little rocks/stones)

Presents:
Guess, where your headed, yup, back to the path…you will cross a grassy/open area on your left.
Follow path into woods and over sandy area.
You will pass three white blazed trees:
First will be on left
Second on your right
Third on you right
The path will then curve to the left and up towards the road.
Cross over the rocky stream bed (now dry)
Immediately after crossing you will spot a leaning tree on your right with rocks around its base and backside.
See the flat topped stone with a hint of orange/red marble-ization (also glitters from mica). Here is the fun part. Push you foot down on the left hand side of this rock; it will wedge itself under the rock behind it, when it does reach down and grab Box #6.
When re-hiding just step on the right side of this stone, a little move force will be needed to un-wedge it and let it tip pack on top of the box.

Now, that you have decorated your tree you can find your way back to your car, I do not recommend walking along the roadside, the path is the safest way back.

Also, have been informed this area does flood out in spring, watch the weather, before venturring out.

Enjoy-may the faerie dust lighten your day!
