If you ever hear someone say they are at the Mauzy Sparta, they are saying that they are between New Market and Mauzy.

1. Start at the Mauzy Store.

2. Skip to the horsey wagon.

During the antebellum years this large, old, white house was a favorite place for musters and political speeches.

3. Spin 3 times and head toward the corner of the house.

4. Jump up the stairs and take a look at the barn, and find the big white bird on it.

Richard Mauzy was the son of Joseph Mauzy and born in McGaheysville on June 17, 1824.

5. Now head back down the stairs and take a left.

6. Count three trees and stop at the bush.

Richard Mauzy was owner and editor of the “Staunton Spectator,” one of the excellent weekly newspapers of that city.

7. Find the cookie-shaped stones and enter the Ice House Cool Room.

8. Now hop down the cookie-shaped stones until you get to sandwich shaped blocks.

9. Enter the jail and act like a prisoner.

10. Exit the jail and turn to 3 o’clock.

11. Walk to the cement pole and make another 3 o’clock turn.

12. Race to the silver gate and stop.

13. Now face left at the gate and add 6+2, then walk that many poles.

14. Next, march to the white building and enter it.

15. Find the place you would roast marshmallows and look behind it, and you will find your treasure.
