Kid Clues:
Start: At Timberville Drug Store. It is believed that the name Timberville came from a large stand of timber that stretched across the ridge north of town. Cross the street, by the stoplights to get to the fire hydrant, make sure to hold your parents hand. Then head down the sidewalk north till you get to Memorial Park Drive. Walk up Memorial Park Drive until you see the tennis courts. Go past them.

1. Head towards the gazebo, or the white structure surrounded by rocks. Walk to it. Go inside by stepping on the stepping stones. Count them. Then after you’re done, walk out and face the park. The beginning of Timberville was about 1750, with the construction of a log house along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River.

2. Skip towards the garden with a statue in the middle of it. Look closely at her (the statue). Notice she is missing a hand and more importantly a head. How do you think that came to be?

3. Next head to the gate, which is the entrance to the park. The former names of the town [Timberville] were Fort Run, Williamsport, Thompsons Store, and Riddles Tavern.

4. Walk down the road entering the park. Enter the park and you should see many different playgrounds. During World War II, there was a POW, prisoners of war, camp in Timberville. POW camps are camps held for prisoners, during World War II, from the opposing army on American soil.

5.Run towards the playground with the big yellow slide and red slide. Make your way up to the biggest slide and slide down it. After you reach the bottom stand and turn facing 5 o’clock. Look ahead, past the see saws, and you should see a swing set with two yellow and one blue swing. Go there and sit on one of them and swing five times. Stop and look towards the two picnic tables.

6. Make your way to the green picnic table, and sit down facing the road, which you entered the park from. Get up and head towards it by going across the ditch. Be careful, then head straight to what looks like a little path to the road. You should now be on the road.

7. Look straight and you should see a set of stairs between two trees. Walk up to them and to your right under a log with two small posts sticking out of it. Under the log, you should see the letterbox.
