The Robin of Robin Hood Park
4/18/2019 -This box WAS missing; we have replaced it. Follow Roxbury Street east until it makes a distinct right turn. Turn left on Reservoir Street and follow it uphill to park at the picnic area/playground or, if out of season, up by the swimming pool. Walk across the dam, turn left and begin to walk around the pond. In about 5 minutes you will come to a great ledge of climbing rocks, fun to explore. Then continue on the path for about 5 more minutes and you will see a big (really BIG) three-toed bird foot reaching down to the path from the right hand side. (note: the three toes are broken off but the large log is still there. A second clue-When your path reaches the end of the pond, look to your right for the long log.) Walk uphill beside the bird leg (trunk) and stop at the upper end. Step over the log and take about 7 steps. The robin is hiding under a large rock on your left side, all way down on the ground opening, not between layers of rock. The trail continues to circle around the pond back to your car. Check out Two More Birds on your way.
