North Country Trail...the sign at the road is now gone but this is a part of that trail.

You know, before the Internet, Facebook, instant messaging and twitter took over there was another method of spreading the news…gossip. Long ago, Norman Rockwell depicted this mode of communication on the front of a magazine cover. You will want to research his art before hunting these boxes…it will benefit you greatly. You have been warned.
Once you find your destination and park your car by the Lowell State Game Area sign, head down the trail in front of you. First go up, then down past the trail map and then up a little more to the top of the small hill. Look right to the multi-trunk where Edith is spreading the news to Lily at it's base under some rocks. Please rehide well.
Lily couldn’t wait to head on up to the summit where she told Ethel the story at the fallen woodpecker restaurant at 190 degrees from blue at 35.
Ethel rushed down to the quads on the left to inform Herm of the details she had just picked up.
Herm grabbed his pipe and ran off. What the heck is that up in that tree on the right?
Herm kept going starting to go up, puffing now, is it his pipe or is he out of shape? At the top from blue he went 270 degrees to share what he had just learned with Agnes.
Agnes continued on and shocked Phyllis with the juicy tidbits at 200 degrees from where the cut lets you pass through.
Phyllis couldn’t wait, so she rushed past the river view, stopping only a moment to enjoy the scenery. Continuing on blue, she grabbed the phone and called Maude from the huge quads on the left.
Maude hurried on down to the hairpin left at 360 degrees where she snatched a phone and rang up Hazel to fill her in on the news.
Hazel moved on and phoned Betty (who was still in her curlers) from the leaner, look between ‘er.
Betty continued down and saw a natural bridge on the left a ways off the trail and found her hubby Frank snoozing behind the pillar on the right and told him the story.
Frank scurried back to the trail and continued down, went across the rocks and up again to the top. There he saw his cousin Olivia at 90 degrees from blue and there he was happy to share what he had learned.
Olivia scampered on down some and then up some more to the rock pile on the right where she was eager to tell Harvey all about it.
Old Harv got a real chuckle out of that so he headed off on blue up into the pines to where another leaner points to a tall one. Under it’s fallen top he told Bert all about it.
Bert was shocked to hear such a ridiculous story, so he moseyed on down then up again looking for Jake. He stayed true to blue through the pines avoiding all of the many diversions and began the long slope downward. Continuing down he found Jake taking a leisurely nap at 240 and 25 from where the pines change. X marks the spot.
Jake was amused about this info and how it reflected on Harry, so he ran off in search of him. He went down then up again and just past the crest of the hill he spotted Harry at the multi-trunk pine just SE of the trail.
Harry was dumbfounded and headed off to confront Edith, his wife. He continued on, passing a parking area along a highway and stayed true to blue. At the point where you can see the curve sign for the road next to you, he found her at 30 degrees and 25 steps, in the triple trunk. CAUTION: There is a tree stand nearby, please check to make sure you’re not being watched from there!!! Please be stealthy. Harry gave Edith what for because the story he heard didn’t resemble the facts as he knew them! Speaking of facts, did you do your research? It might be of interest to you now, as you must now answer a question correctly to find the last box and the log book. Good luck.
An alternative way back to your car is to go back to the parking area you just passed and walk out onto the road. Walk east to the first dirt road and turn left to your car. It’s about a mile walk.
Please, as always when Letterboxing, REHIDE CAREFULLY and rehide better than you found it. Please leave nature as you found it. Please take only pictures and leave only footprints. We hope you enjoy this series and this beautiful hike.
