From A1A in Daytona Beach continue south to Ponce Inlet. Ponce Inlet is home to the tallest lighthouse in Florida and the second tallest in the nation. Completed in 1887, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is one of the only Light Stations that has all of its original buildings intact. Follow the signs to the Lighthouse and park in the in the lot by the museum. Tickets into this National Historic Landmark can be purchased in the museum shop for only $5. If you are local to the area you may want to consider an annual pass for only $10. You will need to purchase a ticket to find the letterbox.

If you can (or dare) make the 203 steps to the top of the lighthouse. The view from the top is amazing. We had a new found respect for the light keepers who had to climb it every day. After you have seen all there is to see in the park grounds continue outside the fee area to locate the letterbox.

To find letterbox:
From the lighthouse parking lot walk towards the Playground between the lighthouse grounds and the main road. Walk along the side walk and when you get to the restroom stand on the sidewalk and face the lighthouse - instead of continuing along the side walk towards the playground walk straight ahead towards the chain-link fence surrounding the lighthouse grounds. About halfway between the restrooms and the fence you will see a tree with a hole in the trunk to your right. Down inside the hole you will find the Lighthouse Letterbox. Tree is out in open so try to be discreet. Make sure when you replace the box that it cannot be seen through crack in trunk.

This box replaces the C.R.E.W. Letterbox placed on 8/8/2003 and confirmed MISSING 3/5/2004.
