Canmer is a small town on Highway 31E, approximately 12 miles East of Munfordville off I-65. Traveling North from Canmer on Hwy 31E, turn right on Highway 677 and note the sign for the local farm supply store. Approximately 1 1/2 miles along Hwy. 677, turn right on the first blacktop road to the right, Hedgepeth Road. Note another sign for the local farm supply store which is 1 mile down this road.

This stamp is located at Hedgepeth Supply which is one of the few remaining small farm supply stores in the area. The store is still heated with a potbellied coal stove where the farmers gather in the winter to swap stories. Garden seed and nails for building are sold in bulk out of buckets. They are weighed on an old time scale and bagged in brown paper bags. During the winter, there is always a box of peanuts on the counter for anyone to crack and eat as they warm by the stove. During the summer, whatever vegetables or fruits are in season are usually left on the counter to share with visitors for free. Chestnuts sometimes make an appearance on the counter from the chestnut trees across the road. Thirsty travelers can have a drink of cold water from the water hydrant out front which comes from the local spring. Visitors are always welcome during the store hours of 7 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. Enjoy your visit to this slice of Americana.

When you enter at the front door, look to your left. Remembering that 'color will make your house brighter' will help you find what you seek
