3/15/11: THIS BOX HAS BEEN REMOVED DUE TO ACCIDENTAL INTERFERENCE WITH A GEOCACHE. I do not know when/if it will be replaced, so please keep checking back. :D Thanks!

This box is in the Pilgrim's Rest Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Pilgrim's Rest is one of the local Afro-American churches; a small white clapboard building and one of my favorite small cemeteries in the area. Despite the highway traffic that passes in front of it, it is a quiet slice of rural peacefulness.

Pilgrim's Rest is located at 3410 East Austin (US 290 East).

If you are coming from Austin, it will be on the right side of the highway (Wal-Mart is too far). If you are coming from Houston/Brenham, it will be on the left side of the highway (Ramada Inn means you just missed it). It is fenced in and a little hard to spot until you are right up on it. The gravestones will be the biggest visual cue.

The church holds services on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of every month, and regular Wednesday evening services. Avoid getting the box on these days. Otherwise, there has never been a soul in sight when I have visited this cemetery.

UPDATED 11/17/10- Moved due to thorns and bees in the old hiding spot!

TO THE BOX: Park in front of the church. Walk toward the back of the cemetery (south/south-east), the farthest area from the road. You will approach a triangle of trees. The grave of Delma Lewis Sr. is at the foot of the tree that makes the triangle's point. Facing south, go to the tree on the left, which has a forked trunk about midway up. The box is nestled in the fork with a large piece of bark propped in front of it. Please re-cover well with the bark firmly in place.

Please report finds and/or problems here.
