Because this is an urban park the best time to look for the box is in the early morning, or during any other time of the day in which few people walk there. If there are large numbers of urban people mobbing the place then these people will clearly see what you are doing, and most people don't want that.

This box is located in front of the Poughkeepsie Train Station. For this reason, it is easily accessible from any place that has either an Amtrak Station, or a MetroNorth Station.

In addition, this box is in front of the Hudson River. This means that if you drive a boat in the Hudson River, then there are docks at the Riverfront where you can park your boat, and search for this box.

This box is also located within the vicinity of the Poughkeepsie/Highland Railroad Bridge, and the Mid-Hudson Bridge. If connection is available to either one of these two bridges (from where you live), then connection should also be available to the Poughkeepsie Train Station.

In order to reach this box, you must first reach Waryas Park. Waryas Park is a riverfront park adjacent to the Poughkeepsie Train Station, and it is generally considered to be one of the most beautiful parks on MetroNorth’s Hudson Line (and on Amtrak’s Empire Corridor).

Once you are in Waryas Park, you must search carefully until you find a large brick building. This brick building will contain space in which food (such as ice cream) can be sold to all those who gather at the riverfront. This is despite the fact that the brick building is not always open for business.

Carefully stand between the brick building and the train station. As you do this, make sure that your back is facing the brick building (the brick building should stand between your back and the river), and your eyes are facing in the direction of the train station. (The train station itself will be hidden behind trees, making it difficult to see).

As you do this, you will notice that there is playground equipment (in front of you) for people to enjoy. Carefully walk in the direction of the playground equipment, while ensuring that the brick building (and ultimately the Hudson River) is behind your back at all times.

As you approach the playground equipment, you will notice that there are two greenish-coloured benches beyond the playground equipment. These benches sit on the edge of a small wooded area (this wooded area sits on the property line that separates Waryas Park from the Poughkeepsie Train Station/Riverfront District complex).

Carefully walk up to the two greenish benches. Stand between the two benches, ensuring that your back is facing the Hudson River.

As you do this, look at the bench to your left. Then, look beyond that leftmost bench (even further to your left). As you do this, you will notice that there is a tree. This tree has a very curvy S-shape to it.

There is a pile of rocks at the base of the tree. The box is hidden underneath the rocks, inside of a naturally-occurring crevice in the ground.

Please use this box responsibly. Do not make it obvious (to those around you) that you are searching for (and looking at) a box. In addition, please re-hide this box carefully. This area is filled with people, and we do not want any accidental findings of this box.

We also do not want any thieves to steal the contents of this box. Thank you very much.

Additional information:
This box contains items for trade for whomever is interested in that type of thing. It also contains a hand-carved stamp, for all those who enjoy collecting stamp impressions in their personal logbooks.

The stamp is not a trade item. For the good of all those who use this box, the stamp cannot be removed from the box (if you remove the stamp from the box, then people will not be able to collect stamp impressions in their personal logbooks anymore, and that would be a shame).

This is a 50-calibre ammunition box, built to withstand horrible weather. This is one of those large boxes that people are excited about finding.
