At 212 feet, the Texas Star is the tallest Ferris wheel in North America. It is located in Fair Park, two miles east of downtown Dallas. This National Historic Landmark has the largest collection of 1930s Art Deco exposition style architecture in the United States located on 277 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. Special features include the Leonhardt Lagoon, Texas Vietnam Memorial and Smith Fountain. The park is also the year-round home of the Music Hall, Cotton Bowl and nine museums, and the home of the Texas State Fair held every fall in Dallas since 1886. This microbox used to be located in this park, but since it kept getting lost I had to move it to a nearby park, whose first name is a small evergreen tree, and second name is a small rise. This Park's proximity to Dallas makes it an ideal destination for families who want to enjoy the great outdoors without spending precious time driving, and you just might be able to see the Ferris Wheel from the overlook where this microbox is hidden.

Directions:
The park is located 10 miles southwest of Dallas. From Interstate 20 exit FM 1382 and go 4 miles south to the entrance on the right. After paying and getting a map at the entrance station, turn left at the first road jct. Go past the Farm, a Stop Sign and the Hog Wallow Campground to the Coyote Campground on the right (sites >= 281). Turn right and go to the restroom building on the left and park.

Clues:
Walk across the street to the Overlook Trail head. At the first trail jct., turn left and continue all the way to the overlook with a fence and bench. Enjoy the view, then when ready to find the box walk back down the trail 10 steps from the bench. On your right will be a large tree with 2 trunks and a large hollow on the inner part of the left trunk. The microbox is within the hollow under sticks and leaves. Please re-cover well.
