Distance: under one mile

Welcome to Rushford, New York, a town full of history!

We invite you to become familiar with our little upstate town by starting your quest on Main Street.

Listen for the sound of a colorful Indian bird. That’s right! The peacock! And if you can’t find him ask a friendly teller at the bank or the post mistress for directions to him.

If you’re too shy to ask, face the library and locate Mr. Peacock’s cage to the right of it. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to say hello to him.

You should be in front of the old Soda shop and across from the Spectator Newspaper building.

Cross the street and head for a box that promises money for youth in our town.

Go to higher altitudes toward our Town Hall and do a dance in the Rushford Gazebo where our town band plays on Saturday nights in the summer.

Go higher still and pass the Free Methodist Church. STOP! Now cross the street again and if you have time and it’s open, visit the Rushford Museum to take you back in history.

After the museum continue your adventure up the street and turn left at the “T”.

Walk until you see a building as red as a fire engine.

Go up onto the porch and peek in the windows – but if it’s warm out watch out for the bees!

It’s our little red school house reconstructed by the Rushford Historical Society.

Look around where a ball thrown in the old time game “Annie Over” could never go because of the boards covering this space. Your letter box will be in the corner.

Thanks for touring Rushford!
