"Kiki" Cuyler (born Hazen Cuyler) was born in Harrisville and grew up playing baseball. In 1921, Kiki broke into the big leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and went to the World Series with the team in 1925. Doris Gauthier, Alcona County historian, reported that Kiki had a two-base hit which won the World Series. This was the only time that he was part of a championship team. He went on to coach both in the minors and majors. While still employed as a coach for the Boston Red Sox, Kiki died in 1950 at the age of 51. His final resting place is at St. Anne Cemetery in Harrisville.
Locate the Cuyler headstone. Walk northeast to the Raynak family. Nearby, in the cedar bushes, you'll find what you seek.
This is part of a series that will be planted by Steppin'Left, Steppin'Right and Horse n' Around. We hope you'll look for all 26!
