UPDATED CLUE: 2/27/10 Some have contacted us and said this box was missing. IT IS NOT. However, since we originally planted it, they have installed several "no parking signs" making it difficult to get to.... so we've moved it and changed the clue.

Valley of Fire State Park is located only six miles from Lake Mead and 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas via Interstate 15 and on exit 75. Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park, dedicated 1935. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. Ancient trees and early man are represented throughout the park by areas of petrified wood and 3,000 year-old Indian petroglyph. Popular activities include camping, hiking, picnicking and photography. The park offers a full-scale visitor center with extensive interpretive displays. Several group use areas are also available. The park is open all year.

Clue: Take I-15 North towards Utah and take Exit 75. Follow this road into the park (it is a fee area) and continue until you reach the Visitor Center. Go in and explore....there's restrooms, drinking fountain and gift shop plus lots of exhibits. When leaving go back to the road that leads to Mouse's Tank. Follow the main road for 2.6 miles from here. You will see a road sign that states "25mph" on your right and on the left there is a large pull-out. It's really a parking area but none of the "spaces" are marked. You will see a sign with a trash can underneath. The sign says "Life on the Burning Edge" From this sign get a compass reading of 34 degrees southwest. You will start walking from the sign towards the rocky knoll, taking about 165 steps. The knoll appears to have a "small cave opening" facing you." You will come to the "edge" of the rock. Walk up and behind the knoll, taking about 38 more steps. You will find two openings side by side, about the size that a large rabbit would fit in. The treasure you're looking for is in the left opening, under a SPOR. Enjoy.....this is our favorite stamp that we've carved so far.

Enjoy the rest of the park... be sure and check out the cabins and elephant rock.
