UPDATE 8/5/2014- The Del Amo Mall is undergoing a huge construction project, so it might be quite awhile before boxes 1 & 2 can be replaced. In the meantime, Box 3 is alive and well.
This is a series of 4 microboxes in Torrance, Rolling Hills, and Manhattan Beach, with stamps based on the movie Cars. When you find these boxes, please be discrete and don't let anyone see you because there is a lot of foot traffic in these areas. Bring gloves or a hand shovel.
BOX #1- MISSING as of 7/7/2010
Go to the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance. Find the outdoor Promenade. From the Lazy Dog Cafe, go to the automated ticket machine on the first level. Behind the ticket machine, is a fountain, to the right of the fountain is a large square bench with a back rest. Sit on the left corner of the bench facing the ticket machine. Reach into the tallest part of the plant next to you. At the base near the middle is the Microbox with a yellow lid.
When you are done, make sure you re-hide the box EXACTLY where you found it and make sure no one sees you finding or re-hiding.
The Del Amo Mall offers many stores and resturants. Easy to get lost in.
BOX #2- MISSING due to construction
Go to the Disney Store at the Del Amo Fashion Center. From the backside of the Disney Store, start from Mickey Mouse's portrait and face the parking lot. Go left, and find a very large tree with gnarled roots. Go up to the trunk and in the crook to the left (hidden by trunk) in the part closest to the Mall 4 West (it's printed on the door). In the crook, about 1 1/2 inches of dirt, is the microbox.
When you are done, make sure you re- hide EXACTLY where you found it, and make sure no one sees you. Enjoy!
BOX #3- Alive and well as of 6/28/2014
Now you will need to go to the Rolling Hills Plaza in Torrance. From the AMC movie theater ticket office, face the fountain. Walk over the "Red Carpet" with blue diamond tiles. Stop just before the last blue diamond tile, before the stairs. In the large planter with the lemon tree on your left, go to the side closest to the palm tree. Lift up the ivy. Underneath the ivy, you will find the microbox.
When you are done, make sure you re- hide the box EXACTLY where you found it, and push the ivy down so it covers the box on all sides.
