Jon and Parker liked secret messages as much as they liked finding letterboxes. They had planned a letterboxing adventure on Saturday. Wanting to make every second count, Jon sent Parker a coded email on Friday night:

bmlesevtrmbeaayt
ganmoajnppdawrskriyn
zgwrlatnfdorcawppiedqs
ntmoymumxoirdrdodw
wartcnbosotn

The boys met at the park. With clues in hand, Jon explained that farmer MacDonald thought the rest of his farm animals had found their way here. He asked Jon to try to find them. Where to start they thought. Two ABCD choices; but an E or not an E that was the question! They picked a main trail that headed southerly.
a descending trail at 230 degrees
past 2 large cojoined oaks
at the “Y” 160 degrees
Given a choice left is not right
More letters…chose the unlettered way
From the base of a large double centipede
16 paces at 252 degrees to visit it’s cousin where the rabbit hutch is
back track to the main trail and take the bridge over Sand Creek waters
Lovely scenery along this trail
Up some root steps
Follow the letter with 2 arrows
Some mighty big multitrunked Oaks
Going up in the world, but then down again,,,what! Up again!
Through an awesome sea of snakegrass
Hmmmm; a clearing
Now the multitrunks are pines
2 sm metal posts on West side of trail. Wonder what were they there for?
From those posts, 4 paces along the log to the base of the little tree. Some friends are happy there.
Again back to the trail You can rest a bit, eat some lunch, or just keep going.
At the intersection red over blue is true
Going down…
Another choice follow the putt putt
(cement bridge)
Next choice is the color of the brick road Dorothy followed
From the tree that is “Hipp” 17 steps.
a large split twin lying along the ground
follow the longer twin to its cavity where the Early Riser is waiting
and back again to the trail continue on
Sweet! Check it out!
Follow the arrowed trail sign
Under a forest canapé
Many large fallen trees
at the choice…24 steps along the trail at 320 degrees
then 21 steps at 230 degrees to the base of the leaner to find Big Red
Back to the trail and head SE and back to your car
