Our family visits Ogunquit at least once a year. Our kids earned the name “sunset gang” 2 years ago at Nubble Light House in Maine while enjoying an incredible sunset. The sunset gang planted this letter box in hopes that you would enjoy the Marginal Way as much as they do. They have been walking this 1.25 mile paved footpath since they were ages 2, 3, and 4. What a wonderful place to soak in God’s beautiful creation. The ocean, the rocks, the trees, the fresh air, the breath taking views. Absolutely a must for all Ogunquit visitors.

The path begins in Perkins Cove behind Oarweeds Restaurant. You can find a limited number of free (2 hour) parking spaces at Perkins Cove. We always find a free spot if we arrive early in the morning.

There are several letter boxes on the Marginal Way. Our box is located at our family’s favorite part of the walk. Just passed bench #26 you will see the most unique tree on the right of the path. We call it the climbing tree. You will see why. We take a family picture here every time we visit. When facing the tree, follow the farthest right branches. Look under the branches for a long rectangular rock in the ground. Under it you will find the treasure you seek. This is a heavily traveled part of the path, please be discreet in finding and replacing the letter box. Let us know your favorite part of the Marginal Way. Blessings from our family to yours.
